Was the Soviet Union allies with the United States? Every allie helped or contributed in ending World War II. The Soviet Union had two attacks on Kursk and Stalingrad before Japan surrendered. In the decision to surrender against the United States, Japan took into consideration that the Soviet Union was coming into the war. Therefore they made the right decesion in sureendering and ending the war.
